ELECTRICITY DROPS FROM 5000 MW TO 2000 MW, AVENGERS TO BLAME – EEDC SEZ BOSS
“Electricity generation in Nigeria has dropped from 5000MW to 2000MW”. This was the sad news coming from the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company EEDC, Mr. Robert Dickerman.
The sharp drop has caused general power outage across the country, which has led serious load shedding, especially in the South East.
Mr. Dickerman, who was addressing the management team of Radio Nigeria South East Zone, during a courtesy visit to EEDC led by Ike Okere, Zonal Director, South East Headquarters, lamented the situation, but said he was optimistic that the NNPC was on top of the situation to restore normalcy in power supply in the country.
He traced the problem of power supply to the blowing up of oil and gas pipelines in Sapele and Escravas in Delta State by the Avengers.
He appealed to consumers to be patient, as EEDC will distribute power equitably to its consumers across the South East Zone.
Earlier, the Zonal Director, FRCN SEZ, Mr. Ike Okere said he was in EEDC headquarters Enugu with his management team on a courtesy visit to deepen the relationship that existed between the company and Radio Nigeria South East Zone.
He expressed sadness that power supply to the Zonal Headquarters had been cut by officials of EEDC for about a month, yet the Station received bills which did not match its consumption.
He appealed to the MD, EEDC to intervene to save the station from a shutdown due to dwindling resources from commercial sales.
Mr. Robert Dickerman promised to intervene as part of a partnership that had existed between Radio Nigeria Enugu and EEDC.
Those in the ZD’s entourage were Mr. Echerobia Agomoh (Deputy Director News), Engr. Ote Nwokpoku Head of Engineering Services, Dr. Anthony Okofu, head Corporate Development, Research and Statistics and Mr. Augustine Anatuanya, PA to the Zonal Director. eadHead
