EFURU Organising Committee visits FRCN Enugu SEZ

efuru-committeeNigerian Youths have been urged to imbibe reading culture to develop their literary talents.

The Chairman, National Organising Committee, Flora Nwapa’s “Efuru” at fifty, Doctor Wale Okediran made the call when he led members of the committee on a courtesy visit to the management of Federal Radio Nigeria Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu National Station.

He said that some of the aims of the celebration were to organise programmes and events that would  encourage authors to bring out their creativity and promote reading culture among Nigeria Youths.

The Chairman organising committee, Mr Paschal Mebuge Obaa said that the events lined up for the celebration would start on the 29th of November 2016.

According to him, the celebration will be spread across the who nation but the grand finale will hold in Oguta, Imo state, the home of the late author.

The son of Flora Nwapa, Mr. Uzoma Nwakuche described his mother as a simple but hardworking woman who lived her life with ease.

He advised parents to make books available for their children and also encourage the younger generation to read.

Responding, the Zonal Director Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Enugu, represented by the Deputy Director Internal Audit, Mr. Francis Okoli, assured the committee that the station had the capacity to publicise its activities to achieve the desired result.
