EBONYI: TWO FRSC PERSONNEL KIDNAPPED

Two members of staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ebonyi State Command have allegedly been kidnapped at the Idodo-Nkalagu dark spot of Abakaliki-Enugu Highway.

The Sector Commander, Ebonyi State Command, Mr. Henry Igwe, told Radio Nigeria that the family members of the missing officers reported to have been contacted by the suspected kidnappers for ransom payment.

He pointed out that preliminary investigations indicate that the staff were on transit to Enugu after their official duties at Nkalagu area when they went missing on the road on March 7, 2024.

According to the Sector Commander, the matter has been reported to security agencies and escalated to the National Headquarters of Federal Road Safety Corps in Abuja for more actions.

Radio Nigeria, however, gathered that the two FRDC personnel were among several passengers on transit to Enugu who were kidnapped at Idodo Nkalagu dark spot.

One of the victims, who spoke on the matter said the Road Safety officials were spotted at the hostage camp of the kidnappers and were left behind as they could not raise their ransom.

The Victim, who gave his name as Mr. Onyekachi Ani, called on the government and security agencies to take urgent action to arrest the criminals and free the hostages who were abducted at Idodo.
