EBONYI STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH ENJOINED TO PARTNER PRIVATE SECTORS IN DEVELOPING ITS PRIMARY HEALTHCARE.

healthEbonyi State Government has directed the State Ministry of Health to seek ways of partnering private investors for the development of its Primary Healthcare Sector.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Kelechi  Igwe gave the directive at the launch of 2016 second round Maternal and New Born Child Health Week at Ugbodo, the Headquarters of Ebonyi Local Government Area.

Dr Igwe described the event as a veritable platform to demonstrate government’s commitment towards providing quality health care to residents of the State and enjoined parents and caregivers to take full advantage of the programme.

He said the State government would continue to encourage Ministry of Health in the implementation of all intervention programmes and commended Health Partners in the area for their contributions to the development of the state’s health institutions.

“We continue to encourage Ministry of Health toda all that it can do to win the first price at Abuja in the subsequent years including this year.“

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezuruike explained that the aim of the programme was to further reduce maternal mortality rate which stood at three hundred and one per one hundred thousand life births in the area.

“The target for this week is to give vitamin A to children between 6 to 59 months.“

The Chairman,  Ebonyi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Uchenna Okoro and the Chairman, Ebonyi Local Government Area, Mr. Anselem Enigwe noted that adequate provisions had been made for the actualization of the programme.

Some Caregivers who attended the event, including Mrs. Amarachi Nwankwo and Mrs. Mabel Ogaba appreciated the State Government for implementing the prograrmme, stressing that it would enhance the State health indicators.

‘’Our Governor is doing what everybody is benefiting from.’’

‘’This one remember everybody, pregnant women and new born babies.’’

Drugs were administered on some of the babies by the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Kelechi  Igwe.
