Ebonyi State Govt. Commissions new ultra modern Virology (Lassa Fever ) Centre.

????????????????????????????????????The Federal government says it will ensure that a new Virology Centre built by Ebonyi State government at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki is properly equipped to tackle cases of acute hemorrhagic fever.

The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewale gave the assurance at the inauguration of the Centre in Abakaliki.

Professor Adewale accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh noted that the Federal government had set aside fund for the construction of six Virology Centres in the six geopolitical zones of the country as promised in January this year.

Governor David Umahi explained that the state government spent three hundred and fifty Million Naira to build the Virology Centre as a result of the devastating effects of lassa fever in the state.

The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Emeka Ogar commended the state government for not only constructing the Virology Centre but also a new Theater Complex.

The Ministers later launched the National Insurance Health Scheme and One Man One Hectre Agricultural Programme of the state government at Abakaliki Township Stadium.

Speaking at the event, Chief Audu Ogbeh expressed Federal government’s readiness to establish Industrial Starch Processing Plant in the state.

Our Online Correspondent, Amaechi Odoh reports that the event also witnessed the signing of a peace accord between Ezilo and Ezza Ezilo communities signaling the end of a communal conflict that began in 2008.
