EASTER MESSAGE: I WILL PRIORITIZE WELFARE OF ABIA RESIDENTS — OTTI

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

As Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says no sacrifice is too big to improve the lives of the people.

The Governor, in his Easter message entitled “To live the ideals of the risen Christ,” noted that even in the quest to build an economically vibrant state, the welfare of the citizens remained paramount.

He explained that the priority of his administration was the welfare of the people, stressing it had been the principal motivation for all government’s programmes and projects.

Commenting on the recent payment of arrears of pensions to retired workers in the state, some of them owed since 2014, Governor Otti said paying people their entitlements ordinarily should not be the subject of excitement.

He described pension payment, as one of the most basic of obligations, which was neglected for years.

Governor Otti thanked the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) and all pensioners in the state for their faith in the Government.

The Governor, however, revealed that the government would extend a special Easter package as part of its periodic support of alms to the most vulnerable in the state as from Monday, April 1, 2024.

Governor Otti thanked Abia residents for being supportive and appreciative to the modest efforts of rebuilding the state.
