DO NOT EULOGIZE CRIME IN YOUR REPORTAGE — NEW IMO CP BEGS JOURNALISTS

Reporter : CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

The new Commissioner of Police in charge of Imo State, Mr. Abutu Yaro, has promised to increase police visibility in the state to restore confidence and enhance security.

He made this known during a news conference shortly after assuming office in Owerri.

The Commissioner said the Force would collaborate with other security agencies to restore peace and normalcy in the troubled state.

Mr. Yaro urged journalists to be patriotic and avoid eulogizing crime in their reportage.

Mr. Yaro explained that the Command would engage with communities and other stakeholders in crime fighting to address the security challenges facing the state.

He insisted that attacks on the Police should not deter the personnel from playing their roles, noting that paying the supreme price in the course of duty would rather boost the morale of security operatives.

The new Police Commissioner advised the public to be patient and always cooperate with security agents to avoid unnecessary heightening of tension.
