COVID-19: NGO DONATES WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE EQUIPMENT TO THREE SEC SCHS IN ABIA

A nongovernmental organization, Victims Support Fund Task force on COVID-19, has donated water, sanitation, personal protective equipment and hygiene facilities to three secondary schools in Abia state to help in the fight to control the spread of COVID19 pandemic in the areas.

The three secondary schools were drawn each from the three senatorial districts of the state.

Presenting the items to the benefiting schools, the Chairperson of organization, Mrs. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, said they decided to embark on the venture in order to provide relief to the less privileged.

She explained that fifty-four schools were selected in eighteen states across the six geo-political zones of the country for the gesture.

Mrs. Akerele-Ogunsiji listed construction of a solar borehole in each of the selected three schools, four hand wash stations, two thousand pieces of reusable facemasks, five pieces of four litres hand sanitizers, five cartoons of bleach and one hundred and twenty bottles of liquid hand wash as the donation by her organization to the schools.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Governor, Mr. Sam Hart, thanked the donors for the gesture, stating that it would go a long way to control the spread of COVID19 pandemic in the state.

He urged the benefiting schools to make proper use of the items.

The benefited schools are Abam High school in Arochukwu, Community Secondary School Isingwu Umuahia and Ndiakata Secondary School in Obingwa Local Government Area.
