CORPS MEMBERS URGED TO PLAY THEIR ROLE AS CHANGE AGENTS IN THEIR HOST COMMUNITIES

Anambra State Government says it is putting necessary measures in place to move the Orientation Camp at Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area to its permanent site, Umuawulu /Mbaukwu by the end of next month

Governor Willie Obiano who stated this at the formal Swearing-in of 2019, Batch ‘B’ Stream Two, Corps members at Orientation Camp Umunya consequently announced augmenting of the Camp feeding with the sum of ten million naira.
Governor Willie Obiano who was represented on the occasion by the Chairman NYSC Governing Board, Mr Afam Mbanefo reminded the Corps members that the success of the service year depended on the foundation they laid during the orientation course, charged them to break new grounds in maximizing their potentials to achieve greatness.

The Governor enjoined Corps members to exhibit the highest sense of loyalty and dedication to national service as well as avail themselves with the developmental initiatives of the State Government.

He however, restated commitment towards completing the Permanent Orientation Camp at Umuawulu.

Earlier in an address, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Kehinde Aremu applauded the efforts of the State Government in seeing to the welfare of corps members whom he urged to endeavour to distinguish themselves during the service year.

Mr Aremu noted that the scheme had mapped out various activities that would deepen Corps members Entrepreneurial zeal and entrench patriotism in them.

Two of the Corps members who interacted with Radio Nigeria, Mr Jerry Chuks And Chisara Ikeriochi said they looked forward to enjoy their stay in the State .

High point of the occasion was administeration of oat of allegiance to One thousand, six hundred and Two Corps members out of which nine hundred and eight were females whilesix hundred and ninety four were males.                 

Also, National Youth Service Corps members posted to Imo State have been urged to be disciplined and selfless in the service to the nation to achieve the objectives of the scheme.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha represented by Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Chief Okechukwu Umez-Eronini gave the charge during the opening of this year’s orientation course for Batch B Stream Two corps members at Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.

He said NYSC had continued to serve as a unifying factor and agent of development but noted that more needed to be done to fully harness its potential.

Governor Ihedioha appealed to the corps members to key into the “Rebuild Imo” project of his administration by contributing their quota to the welfare of their host communities.

The Imo State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mr. Chinedu Eloeboh said a number of programmes had been put in place to equip the corps members for both service and post service life.

He explained that the youths had all adjusted to the new environment and were eager to play their roles as change agents.

The Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice Paschal Nnadi represented by a high court Judge, Justice Theresa Chikeka administered oath of allegiance on the corps members.

A total of One thousand, one hundred and fourteen corps members have been registered to participate in the orientation course in the State.
