COMMUNITY ATTACK CLAIMS TWO LIVES IN EBONYI

Two persons have been shot dead while a police personnel sustained bullet wounds following an attack by gunmen on road users at Abomege-Ishinkwo road in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The community and their neighbours, Abomege, have been locked up in a lingering land dispute that has claimed many lives with hundreds of buildings destroyed for some years now.

An eyewitness explained that the victims were returning home from work when they were attacked by suspected Ishinkwo warriors.

According to the eyewitness, the victims were rushed to the hospital where two were confirmed dead while the policeman was responding to treatment.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the development, noting that the Command had launched a manhunt for the fleeing attackers.
