BUHARI INAUGURATES EBONYI AIRPORT, ROADS & ECOLOGICAL PROJECTS

The Federal Government has approved the take over and concessioning of the newly constructed Ebonyi International Airport Onueke in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

President Muhammadu Buhari announced this when he inaugurated the Airport virtually.

Also inaugurated were David Umahi University of Health Sciences Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area, 198 kilometre Abakaliki rigid pavement ring road connecting eight local government Areas, 38.3 kilometre Onueke-Oshiri-Onicha-Ohaozara concrete road, Newmap 19.13 kilometre flood control project and Ogwuma Edda Ecological project in Edda Local Government Area.

President Buhari said he was impressed by the landmark project embarked upon and completed by Governor David Umahi’s administration, emphasizing that it had made the state to grow in bounds.

He expressed appreciation to the people of Ebonyi State for naming the Airport after him, noting that the State Government had achieved a remarkable progress and deserved a robust partnership with the Federal Government.

Governor David Umahi said the execution of critical projects by his administration would not have been possible if not for the unflinching support of President Buhari and pleaded with him to complete the processes of the takeover of some of the projects.

Special Assistant to the Governor on Airport, Mr. Frank Ngwu, said the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority had given the Airport an Operation License for scheduled flights.

The Airport sited on four hundred hectres of land has a rigid concrete runway of 3.1 kilometre length and 75 metres width and has received fourteen flights since its inaugural test flight.
