REMAINS OF THE SLAIN CATHOLIC PRIEST IN ENUGU STATE BURIED

The body of Reverend Father Paul Offu has been laid to rest at Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu.

The Priest who was ordained on the fourteenth of August, 1991 was murdered by some gunmen on the first of August was the Parish priest of Saint James the Greater Parish, Ugbawka, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Reverend Calistus Onaga, said that the spate of insecurity in the country had become worrisome and emphasised the need for collaboration between the people and security agencies.

In a sermon, the Parish Priest of Holy Innocent Parish Amagunze, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, the very Reverend Father Sylvester Nwodo, said Christians should prepare themselves adequately as death was inevitable.

Reverend Father Stanley Mmaduechesi was ordained the same day with father Paul Offu.

He described he deceased as a kind heated fellow who always had the interest of people at heart.

Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of Reverend Father Paul Offu.

The ceremony had the clergy, the Enugu State Governor, top government officials, parishioners, friends and sympathisers in attendance.
