ARCHBISHOP CHUKWUMA FEEDS ENUGU PRISONERS

The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma wants the Enugu State government to extend its prerogative of mercy to some inmates in the Enugu Maximum Prison especially this advent season.

The Most Reverend Chukwuma made the call at the Enugu Maximum Prison to mark the fourteenth anniversary of the Annual Anglican Prison Week visit.

According to him, the objective of the event is to give hope to the hopeless and oppressed.

The Most Reverend Chukwuma while calling on the inmates to trust in God in every situation also appealed to relevant authorities to speed up trials on those on awaiting trials as a way of decongesting the prison.

In an address, the Assistant Prisons Chaplain Reverend Canon O.C. Obiokye applauded the Bishop for his benevolence towards the inmates by feeding over two thousand of them in seven days and prayed God to reward him abundantly.

Overwhelmed with joy, the Deputy Controller, Enugu State Maximum Prison, Mr. Lawrence Felix expressed the efforts of the church noting that the gesture had revived the hopeless in the prison.

The occasion featured testimony by a nursing mother who used the opportunity to thank God for a safe delivery.

The inmates rejoice and dance with the Arch Bishop for his kind gesture.
