ANGLICAN DIOCESE OF ENUGU SHOWERS OVER FIVE THOUSAND POOR PERSONS WITH CHRISTMAS GIFTS

More than five thousand indigent Nigerians have benefited from the annual Christmas gifts of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu.

During the occasion, the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma said the church was worried about the high rate of unemployment, poverty and hunger in the country.

The Most Reverend Chukwuma said the gesture was part of the church’s effort to reach out to the less privileged persons during yultide and give them sense of belonging.

He called on the rich to make efforts to bring succour to the less privileged.

The Archbishop pointed out that the level of unemployment in the country could be reduced drastically if the federal government implemented functional policies.

One of the sponsors of the programme, Mr. Paul Erinne also added that the current problem the country was experiencing would have tackled if citizens were engaged.

Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Uzoamaka Agu and Mrs. Peace Nnabuihe, commended the church for the gesture and prayed God to continue to bless the Archbishop and Mr. Paul Erinne for the gifts.

Meanwhile this is the twenty-second year the Diocese has distributed gifts to the Poor during Christmas.
