ANAMBRA PLANS TO TACKLE COVID-19 AT THE WARD LEVEL

Anambra State Government is to set up a Coronavirus Medication Taskforce at ward levels in the area.

Governor Willie Obiano, who announced this in a statewide broadcast, said the task-force would help in to fight COVID-19 at ward level.

According to the Governor, a team of seasoned medical practitioners and public health officers would also be set up to deliberate and decide the best medical approach to adopt on a case-by-case basis.

Governor Obiano
maintained that setting up of COVID-19 Task-force at the ward level would play a major role in increased detection and reportage of more Coronavirus cases.

While noting that government had made some commendable arrangements in fighting the pandemic, Governor Obiano said they had put together a 428-bed Protective Care Center to absorb COVID-19 cases to nurse them back to good health.

The Governor also announced that all the 63 markets in the State had been fumigated while palliative materials were distributed to segments of the society.

Governor Obiano, who emphasized the need for strict adherence to all the COVID-19 protocol, said the state had recorded nine positive Coronavirus cases, three of which had been discharged, including the index case while four of the cases were still in the state Protective Care Center.

He explained that the state had extended its activities to the 326 wards for a more aggressive campaign against the pandemic.

While lamenting the poor attitude of some health workers to patients, who they suspected of having symptoms of the deadly virus, Governor Obiano called for better understanding and empathy from healthcare workers and charged them to respect their professional oath.

He directed management of all hospitals in Anambra State to create an Isolation Room where any patient whose sample was taken for COVID-19 testing would be kept as the result of the test was being awaited.
