Abia State Police Command parades man for beheading woman in Aba

rescueThe Abia State Police Command, On Monday, paraded one Emmanuel Effiong,  from Ikot Eket in Akwa Ibom State for allegedly beheading a yet- to be identified woman in Aba.
According to the police, the suspect dumped the headless body of the victim in a motor park in Aba after escaping with the severed head.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Leye Oyebade, who paraded the suspect along side with several other criminals in Umuahia, said the incident occurred on September 20.
The police boss explained that the suspect confessed to the heinous crime while he was being interrogated after his arrest in a kidnap case.
He said that the suspect had contacted his former employer on phone and threatened to kidnap him if he failed to pay N15 million into his (suspect’s) bank account on or before October 5.
Police said the suspect who resides at No 56 Nweke Street Aba, was later picked up from his hideout where three knives, and a mobile phone were recovered from him.
Later in an interview, the suspect said he found the victim already dead at a motor park before chopping off the head.
The former security guard said he threw the severed head of the victim into Aba River on the advice of a mad woman.
According to him, he had given alms to the mad woman and she told him to bring a human head so as to be delivered from ‘spirits’ following him.
“I dashed money to a mad woman one day and she told me that bad spirits are following me, and that is why I have not been successful in life. She told me to bring a human head in order to be delivered.
“So, when I saw the dead woman in the motor park, I came in the night and cut off the head and threw it inside.
