ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT DEMOLISHES CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS IN ABA

Abia State Government has embarked on the demolition of illegal shanties that act as hideouts for criminals in Aba and its environs. This is part of efforts to curb crime and other forms of criminality in state.

Speaking at the demolition site, Waterside Aba, the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, said government decided to demolish the shanties because they served as hideouts for criminals. He pointed out that criminals dealing on illicit drugs and perpetrating various crimes often hid in the shanties to carry out their nefarious activities.

Dr. Agbazuere assured that the State Government was committed to the safety of lives and property of the citizenry.  According to Dr. Agbazuere, no government will fold its arms and watch criminal elements perpetrate crime and threaten the security of the State.

He warned criminals who used the Waterside, Aba as hideout to vacate the area.He threatened that landlords in the State who harbour armed robbers, kidnappers and hard drug dealers would have their houses demolished while they would be prosecuted.

Speaking on behalf of security agencies, the Commissioner of Police, Abia state, Mrs. Janeth Agbade, reassured residents of the state that security agencies were committed to providing excellent security.

She called on criminal elements using the Waterside as hideouts to vacate the area.
