67 BIDDERS EMERGE TO MANAGE WASTE IN ABIA

Abia State Government says the report on Invitation for Bids, IFBs, for Private Sector Participants in Waste Management Services in the state is ready.

Announcing the report during a briefing at Government House Umuahia, the Chairman of the Bid Committee and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Due Process, Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, said the end of Invitation for Bids was targeted at engaging relevant private sector participants in the provision of waste management services across the state.

He explained that the Invitation for bids were issued to receive tenders from individuals and competent organizations for the provision of adequate waste management in Umuahia and Aba with both towns delineated into zones for effective waste management.

According to Dr. Chukwu, the Committee received a total of 171 interested bidders with 67 of them successfully processed.

He explained that the successful bidders met the set eligibility criteria, shown capacity and capability to proffer and manage modern end-to-end waste management solutions and systems across the zones.

Also, the General Manger of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Ogbonnia Okereke, said having announced the winners, the next phase would be documentation, which would involve communication of service level agreement between the State represented by the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) and the contractors that would be supervised by the Due Process Office.
