A forty three year old tenant, Ikechukwu Igwegbe, is now in police net in Anambra State for allegedly impersonating the first son of his late landlord to claim his property.  The suspect hails from Onneh in Orumba South Local Government Area of the State.

Igwegbe had  approached the probate Registry of the State High court in Awka and started processing a letter of Admin in respect of his deceased landlord,  Mr. Anthony Okafor having presented himself as the first son. A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, reveals that the document would have given the suspect access to the property of the deceased including bank deposits.

It explains that the suspect had equally sworn an oath, under false pretence that he is a biological son of his late landlord. According to the statement, Igwegbe also obtained a forged death certificate allegedly from the National Population Commission stating that the man died on the 27 of July while the death occurred on the 23rd of July 2020.

The suspect afterwards attempted to make withdrawal from the deceased account but was advised by the bank  to go and get a letter of administration.  The statement adds that Ikechukwu Igwegbe, who voluntarily confessed to the crime was a tenant in the deceased house at Igboukwu. He impersonated the first son of his landlord, who lives in Zaria, Kaduna State.
