POLICE DEBUNK RUMOURS OF EXPLOSION IN AN ENUGU CHURCH

The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says there was no bomb explosion at Holy Cross Catholic Parish, Iji Nike Abakpa, Enugu East Local Government Area on Sunday as being speculated.

A Statement by Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amarizu indicated that there was a report of alleged explosion in the Church in the morning hours in which the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Department promptly attended to with other security operatives of the Command.

The Statement advised members of the public to go about their normal lawful businesses.

It also stated that analysis from the Explosive Ordnance of the Command revealed that the explosion was not caused by Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) but by Pyrotechnic which the Perpetrator used to cause panic to church members.

According to the statement, there was no loss of life, injury or damage to property during the incident.

Meanwhile, the Explosive Ordinance Department had declared the entire area safe just as full scale investigations had commenced into the alleged incident.
