IG WARNS COPS AGAINST VIOLATION OF PEOPLE’S RIGHTS

Inspector GenIGP-Solomon-Araseeral of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, has warned men and officers of the Nigeria Police against violation of the fundamental human rights of Nigerians in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

He gave the warning, yesterday, in Benin, Edo State, when he visited the state Command of the Nigeria Police as part of his tour of all police formations in the country. The IG, who charged officers of the force to employ the best professional practices in the discharge of their duties and avoid things capable of bringing the Police into disrepute, said that policing must have human face and urged them to draw a line between civil and criminal offences,.

Arase also said that for effective policing, the Police should re-enact the traditional systems of policing and bring them in tandem with modern ways of policing. “When I came on board as the IG, I made my mission and vision known as regards the modern system of policing and it is in this regard that I embarked on a tour of all police formations across the country to sell this vision.”
