FG reassures workers of enhanced protection at workplace

The Minis2016_11_03_39939ter of Labour and Em­ployment Sen. Chris Ngige, has again assured Nigerians of the commitment of the pre­sent administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, to continue the protection of the Nigeri­an workforce, work effi­ciency and by extension productivity at work places.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of La­bour and Employment, Dr. Clement Illoh, at the Validation Workshop for Diving, Pressure Vessels and Lifting Equipment regulations, Ngige while declaring open the work­shop said, “Technology and Development come with various risks on the human wellbeing. The ever changing world of work requires effective and up to date interven­tion for a preventative safety and health culture. Therefore, the need for subsidiary legislations to address contemporary challenges of safety and health at work places is imperative’’

He futher said the benefits of the regulation which includes provi­sion of a close guide for stakeholders’ compli­ance with relevant pro­visions of the factories ACT for safe work envi­ronment and processes, provision of more details and guide for the safe op­erations of Divers which will provide reduction in incidents and their con­sequences at work places
