Earth tremor hits Kaduna again, residents flee

Barely 2016_09_21_5822810 days after the first incidents of earth tremor in Kwoi and environs, another one on Tuesday, hit Kwoi, headquarters of Jaba Local Govern­ment Area of Kaduna State.

The Chairman of the local government had disclosed that over 15 incidents of tremor hit the town during the pe­riod of the first scare.

newsmen gath­ered that Tuesday’s incident forced many people who had ear­lier refused to vacate the town to flee for safety.

Meanwhile, experts at the Kaduna State Uni­versity (KASU), have said that the constant incident of earth tremor in Kwoi town may give way to a major earth­quake, urging the gov­ernment to place the community on a watch list for a possible evacu­ation of residents in the near future.

newsmen also gathered that Tues­day’s incident came with heavy vibration at about 9am, after an ear­lier ones on Monday at about 3am and 6am.

Schools quickly asked students to return to their homes and shut their gates, while several residents made frantic moves to evacuate fami­lies from the troubled community.

A community leader in Fada, who resides close to the Chief of Jaba’s Palace, Mallam Suleiman Yakubu, said, “Today (Tuesday) the tremor happened again. And today’s tremor was very loud than the previous ones. Some schools were forced to close and they sent their students back home.”
