BUHARI INAUGURATES NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE COMMITTEE

A 30 member tripartite National Minimum Wage Committee, approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, for the negotiation of a new National Minimum wage has been inaugurated in Abuja.

Speaking with News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, the President of the Nigeria labour Congress Mr. Ayuba Wabba expressed hope that the demand of the labour would be met.

Mr. Wabba said that labour would discuss issues relating to rate of naira because the present exchange rate had increased from the time fifty six thousand naira was being proposed by Labour.

The Nigeria Labour Congress General Secretary, Mr. Peter Ozo-Eson said the Committee would discuss many issues affecting the minimum wage and the way forward.

Mr. Ozo-Eson said, the organized labour was looking forward to the inauguration because the committee was made up of a tripartite group that would discuss issues affecting the Nigerian workers.
