FRCN ENUGU’S ZONAL DIRECTOR ENCOURAGES EMERGENCE OF YOUNG POETS

Poetry has been described as a profession that can transform and enhance the quality of lives of committed Practitioners.

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu,

Mr. Ike Okere stated this during a Poetry Slam organized by the Readers’ Club of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu.

Mr. Okere encouraged upcoming Poets to invest their time and energy in deepening their knowledge in poetry and always enter for competition such as poetry slams to become well known.

Mr. Okere, who is a Veteran Poetry Slam Master, explained that poetry slam was a performance poetry competition aimed at discovering young talents and making the art more popular in the society.

The Coordinator of Godfrey Okoye University Reader’s Club, Chidiebere Njoku expressed the Club’s determination to set up more reading clubs in schools across Enugu State to inculcate reading culture in students.

During the competition, eleven contestants emerged at the first round, seven were selected while five made it to the final.

The winner of the Slam, Miss Favour Chukwuma, told Radio Nigeria that observing nature and things around her had been her inspiration.

Other Participants expressed joy over the event and promised to improve on their weakness.
