TRADER-MONI & MARKET-MONI: OVER 30 THOUSAND TRADERS BENEFIT IN ENUGU

More than thirty thousand persons in Enugu State have benefited in the
MarketMoni and TraderMoni interest free loans of the Federal Government.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, made this known when he visited Enugu for a town hall meeting to interact with beneficiaries of the scheme.

The event, which was held at Artizan and Abakpa markets had over four thousand beneficiaries of the scheme throng the venues where they accessed the fifty thousand naira Market Moni and ten thousand Naira TraderMoni start up interest free loans.

The money, which was specifically for petty traders, is a part of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEEP, scheme of the Federal Government, being executed by the Bank of Industry.

According to Vice President Osinbajo, about two hundred and twenty eight million naira has been disbursed to over four thousand Market Moni beneficiaries and another two hundred and thirty eight million naira to over twenty thousand TraderMoni beneficiaries.

The Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, said the state had invested heavily in the development of Small and Medium Scale businesses through its indigenous empowerment programs.

Two beneficiaries, Mr. Ezego Nnaji and Mrs. Chidimma Okeke, said the loan had improved their businesses.

Some of the eleven participating markets in Enugu include Ogbete Main Market, Abakpa Market, Orie Emene Market, Kenyatta Market, and Artisan Market.
