SOUTH EAST FADAMA COORDINATORS PLEDGE TO ACTUALIZE THE AIM OF THE PROJECT

The Forum of Southeast State Coordinators of FADAMA III Additional Financing Project says the improvement in agric businesses and increased availability of food in the area are due to full implementation of the project in the Zone.

Members of the forum stated this at a meeting to evaluate their performance in the implementation of the project in the Zone at FADAMA Office, Abakaliki.

The meeting was to evaluate the performances of the project as part of preparations for the upcoming World Bank-Federal Government supervision mission in all the FADAMA III participating states.

The State Coordinator of FADAMA III Additional Financing project, Dr. Cletus Nwakpu explained that the project had impacted positively on the lives of the participating farmers in the zone.

Dr. Nwakpu cautioned benefitting farmers against diversion of resources provided for them by the government under FADAMA III.

“Let them use it form the intended projects, let them not to divert it.”

In their remarks, the State Coordinators of FADAMA III Additional financing in Abia, Mrs. Ezinne Otuba and her Enugu State countpart, Mr. Ikechukwu Ogboke noted that the project had recorded tremendous achievement achievements in the area of rice and cassava production as well as capacity building for the benefiting farmers in the area.

“It’s meant for people who are into agricultural business and come up as a group to ensure that they can carry out a particular project.

“We want to bring them on track, knowing that we are trying to build them to go into real commercialization in rice production.”

The State Coordinator of the project in Anambra State, Mr. Patrick Ebue emphasized that the South East Coordinators of FADAMA III projects were poise to revolutionize agricultural production in the zone.

“we want to see to a modernized and research based form of cultivation; that way their yield will increase, they will know how to keep their records.”

Mr. Ebue also said that the State Coordinators of the projects were committed to ensuring the effective implementation of the project in the zone.

The Forum was attended by the State Coordinators of FADAMA III projects in Ebonyi, Abia, Enugu and Anambra State.
