FG seeks China’s support on housing

The Federal Governm2016_09_22_22184ent is seeking partnership with the Chinese government to build housing estates for at least 87,000 federal civil servants across Nigeria.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, said the government would collaborate with China for a single digit interest rate mortgage that civil servants can pay.

She made the disclosure on Saturday at a meeting with the Chairman of the China-Africa Development Fund in Abuja,

The Head of Service also explained the reasons behind government’s decision to collaborate with the Chinese government instead of looking inwards for funding.

She had earlier stated that the Federal Government would drive the recently launched “change begins with me” project in civil service.

Mrs Oyo-Ita said that the reason for the development was to change the orientation of the public servants towards work.

She expressed satisfaction over the way workers’ attitude to work had changed, noting that many civil servants were already buying into the new National Orientation Programme, despite Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
