Abia state government says plans are under way to establish a special school for enrolment of children of street beggars at no cost.
The commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu stated this while speaking with newsmen in Umuahia.
According to the Commissioner, government would ensure that children of street beggars were meaningfully engaged after school through the state government education for employment where they would be trained on various skills.
He maintained that government was poised to ensure that no Abia child engaged in street trading adding that learning facilities including uniforms, books in addition to the free school feeding program were all geared towards encouraging every child to be in school.
