A POLICE OFFICER IN EBONYI STATE DROWNS IN A WELL
A Police Sergeant attached to Ebonyi State Police Command, Mr Donatus Oyibe has drowned in a well at his residence, number 12 Udude Street Abakaliki.
Investigations reveal that the Police Officer was among forty nine personnel shortlisted last week for deployment to Bornu State to beef up security in the area.
An Eyewitness who lives within the neighborhood, Mr Fabian Igwe told Radio Nigeria that the police officer had been behaving strangely since he was informed about the deployment and allegedly fell into the well by four o’ clock early in the morning.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mrs Loveth Oda confirmed the incident but ruled out the possibility of a suicide.
She said investigations had commenced to ascertain what led to the incident.
The remains of the Police Officer had been deposited in a morgue.
