Today is International Day Against Nuclear Tests.
The human and environmental tragedies that are the result of nuclear testing are compelling reasons for the need to observe the day
On this day, educational events, activities and messages aim to capture the world’s attention and underscore the need for unified efforts to prevent further nuclear weapons testing are held and disseminated across the globe.
On second December 2009, the United Nations General Assembly declared twenty ninth August each year as the International Day Against Nuclear Tests.
The resolution also seeks to achieve a nuclear weapons free world.
