POLITICIANS IN ANAMBRA IMPLORED TO ENGAGE IN ISSUED-BASED CAMPAIGN ……Ban on open campaign lifted

political-parties-logos-Politicians in Anambra State are now free to engage in open  campaigns, ahead of the November 18th Governorship election in the area.

As the ban is lifted, some residents have called on political gladiators to carry out issue-based campaign that will enable the electorate to make the right choice, in the interest of the state.

The people anticipate a campaign devoid of name calling, mudslinging and unrealistic promises.

One of them is a Legal Practitioner, Chief Stanley Mbanaso, who urged the political gladiators to articulate the development challenges confronting the state and the needs of citizens in their manifestoes.

Other respondents called on youths who are always at the centre of electoral violence not to allow themselves to be used  to perpetrate  violence before, during and after the poll

A Public Affairs Analyst, Chief Jude Emecheta, charged them not to make themselves available as agents of violence.

A member of the State House of Assembly, Mr Kingsley Iruba, advised the youths to set their eyes on long term benefits of good governance by engaging the candidates of various political parties meaningfully.

Another respondent, Comrade Obi Ochije, encouraged the young voters to take their destiny in their hands and resist all desperate attempts by older politicians to abuse them.

Although Anambra State is reputed for peaceful polls in the past, it is the hope of all the respondents that the record would be kept while the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC will be an unbiased umpire.
