UNICEF, ENUGU STATE GOVT, OTHERS PLANT OVER 100 TREES AT GTC

Students of Government Technical College, GTC, Enugu, UNICEF, officials of Enugu State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (EN-RUWASSA) as well as some officials of Environmental Societies have planted over one hundred trees within the premises of GTC.
The aim is to encourage reforestation and bio- diversity, as part of activities marking this year’s World Environment Day.
Speaking on the theme of the 2024 World Environment Day, which is,” Our Land, Our Future: We are #GenerationRestoration,” the Acting Managing Director EN-RUWASSA, Mrs. Chinonye Nnabuchi, noted that World Environment Day is the biggest International day for the environment and celebrated by millions of people of across the world.
She commended UNICEF for its efforts in mobilizing young people to take action against the climate crisis.
Also, the Deputy Director, Department of Climate Change, Enugu State Ministry of Environment, Mr. Nnamdi Arum, encouraged Nigerians to take concrete green actions to protect and adapt to the impact that climate change is exacting on families, communities and cities.
The tree planting event which is the highpoint of this year’s World Environment Day, had in attendance Government officials, UNICEF, Environment Societies and youths, including students.
There were also discussion sessions and key presentations by resource persons.
