GUNMEN KILL 2 VIGILANTEES, ONE OTHER IN EBONYI

Gunmen have killed three persons following an attack at Akpoha Junction linking Akpoha with Abakaliki-Afikpo Federal highway.
An eyewitness, Mr. Donatus Uche told journalists that the gunmen who operated with two motorcycles carried out the attack in the night during which they killed a Neighbourhood watch leader, Mr. Emmanuel Nwacha, his brother Nicholas Nwacha and a pretty trader, Blessing Orieona.
He pointed out that the gunmen shot sporadically for minutes noting that many sustained injuries while trying to flee the scene of the attack.
The eyewitness stated that the matter was reported to the police who later arrived at the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Coordinator of Akpoha Development Centre, Mr. Kenneth Orji, said the corpses were deposited in a morgue.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
Radio Nigeria gathered that such attack has become a recurring incident in the area.
