The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts has expressed its resolve to ensure that public funds are used for the public in a manner that conforms to all the rules of transparency and accountability.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Bamidele Salam, stated this when he led members of the Committee, who were on oversight visit in the South East to pay homage to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

Mr. Salam explained that they were not in the state for a witch hunt but to carry out their official duties.

The House Committee Chairman noted that Governor Alex Otti had over the years supported public Accounts and transparency in governance and commended him for not disappointing those who believed in his preparednes for leadership.

Responding, Governor Otti said his administration is committed to upholding a transparent and accountable leadership to guarantee greater development in all parts of the state.

The Governor assured the team that he would justify the confidence reposed in him to achieve a new Abia State.

The Governor used the forum to reiterate that it was in the spirit of accountability that led to the setting up of a forensic audit, which revealed huge looting of the state resources by the past administration.
