The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ebonyi State says the remarkable bonding existing among corps members of diverse culture and background is a clear indication that the scheme is achieving its objectives of national integration and unity.
The state Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Foluke Oladeinde, made the remark at the closing of three weeks orientation course for 2024 Batch A Stream Two Corps members deployed to Permanent Orientation Camp, Afikpo.
Mrs. Oladeinde pointed out that the corps members were taken through leadership and citizenship training to prepare them for national assignments and urged them to see their postings as opportunities to contribute their quota to the development of the state.
“Barely 3 weeks ago, these corps members arrived Ebonyi State in response to the clarion call and were registered for the National Service.
“While in the orientation course, corps members were taken through series of activities such as Para- military drills, citizenship and leadership trainings, Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development trainings, drug free and Motivational lectures, Security tips, Cultural and Language studies amongst others,” she enumerated.
“Having successfully completed this orientation exercise, I am convinced that they are ready to excel during the service year and beyond,” she stated.
Mrs. Oladeinde advised the corps members to shun acts capable of breaching the peace and unity of the country but promote national development and peace.
“Dear compatriots in national service, it is imperative to remind you at this juncture to remain good ambassadors of your families, NYSC scheme and the country at large bearing in mind that a lot have been invested in you,” she advised.
According to the NYSC State Coordinator, the posting of the corps members was done bearing in mind their course of study and in line with government’s policy of posting them to four critical areas of the economy including Education and Agriculture.
