REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Police in Ebonyi State have rescued six children abducted and sold out by an alleged notorious child trafficker, identified as Ngozi Blessing Abia.

The rescue of the children followed the arrest of the suspect at Oba in Anambra State after she abducted two children at Nwezenyi Igbegu in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, explained that the two children aged three and seven were rescued in Oba while further investigations led to the rescue of three other children who were previously abducted by the suspect at Ohazara Local Government Area and sold to an orphanage home located in Benin City.

The statement further noted that the proprietor of the orphanage home was arrested while another three year old boy who was previously abducted in Lagos and sold by the suspect was also recovered.

Mr. Ukandu in the statement called on property owners to profile prospective tenants before giving them accommodation, noting that the modus operandi of the suspect was to rent a room and fraternize with her neighbours before abducting their children for sale.
