POLICE RESCUE FOUR KIDNAP VICTIMS, RECOVER ARMS IN ANAMBRA

Police operatives in Anambra State have rescued four male victims kidnapped in the state.
The operatives also recovered one AK-47 Rifle with two magazines loaded with fifty rounds of ammunition following a shootout that led to the smashing of a notorious kidnap gang in the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement, said the operatives trailed the kidnappers to Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state before smashing them.
The statement said the police operatives had intensified manhunt of the kidnappers who escaped from the scene of the shootout.
The statement explained that, while combing the sorrounding bushes, the operatives and the local vigilantes recovered a loaded AK-47 rifle with double magazines containing fifty rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
The statement said the weapon was promptly rendered safe and taken into custody for further investigation.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, has Commended the diligence of the members of the Joint Team and promised to reward them for their commitment to public safety.
It added that the Command’s Special Anti Kidnapping Unit at Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area, had taken over the case for proper investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police.
