MAINTAIN YOUR VEHICLES REGULARLY— FRSC ADVISES ABIA MOTORISTS
REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Command, wants motorists to make regular maintenance of their vehicles a priority, especially after a very busy period.
The Acting Sector Commander in Abia State, Mrs. Bridget Asekhauno, made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria on how the command managed the heavy traffic witnessed during the Christmas and New Year period in the state.
She explained that to ensure seamless movement for the large number of people that travelled during the holidays, all its personnel, patrol vehicles and tow trucks were deployed to strategic places while such measures as diverting traffic to alternative routes helped a lot in managing the traffic.
The Deputy Corps commander was, however, not happy that some motorists failed to maintain their vehicles before embarking on trips during the New Year and rushed to go on several trips in a day which led to some avoidable crashes.
She therefore urged commercial vehicle operators to make safety their primary consideration irrespective of the period to ensure they and their passengers arrive at their destinations in one piece.
