OTTI TASKS 24 NEW PERM SECS TO ADD VALUE TO ABIA CIVIL SERVICE SWEARING

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

Twenty four Permanent Secretaries have been sworn into office in Abia State Civil service with a directive to be firm and live above board in the discharge of their duties.

The State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, who gave the charge at the Government House Umuahia, also advised the new Permanent Secretaries to strive to improve themselves in knowledge so as to add value to the system.

The Governor announced that the Commissioner for Science and Technology and his Digital Economy counterpart as well as his own office would drive the process of digitalization of the civil service.

He explained that in selecting the new Permanent Secretaries, the government was after professionalism, a robust understanding of the place of civil service in driving government policies and programmes.

Governor Otti warned them not to engage in any unwholesome activity or corruption and urged them to guide and support Commissioners to succeed in their duties.

Responding on behalf of the new Permanent Secretaries, Mrs. Ngozi Obioma, thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and pledged to work in line with the civil service reform agenda of the present administration.
