OTTI SUBSIDIZES CAC REGISTRATION FOR 600 SMEs IN ABIA

Abia State Government says it is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Communication and Digital Economy to train three million Nigerians in various aspects of digital economy.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, the Commissioner for Digital Economy, Dr. Mathew Ekwuruibe, said the training would be in two phases with the first phase covering 12 digital skills, including animation, data science, data analysis and visualization, soft ware development and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Ekwuruibe held the briefing at the Government House Umuahia alongside the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu and the Director General Abia State Orientation Agency, Pastor Nwankwo.
Dr. Ekwuribe said the registration for the digital skills training in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) would be launched nationwide on 15th of November, and urged young Nigerians to register through nitda.gov.ng
The Commissioner further announced that Governor Alex Otti had subsidized the registration of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for 600 Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) in the state and advisd the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity to get their businesses registered.
He informed them that the government would soon start Google mapping of Streets and businesses in Abia State, a process he said would last till December, 2024 to ensure ease of doing business for the people of the state.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince kanu, explained that the state government had commenced rehabilitation work on a flank of the Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway with the assurance of handing over the road at the end of November this year while the others would be completed by the end of December 2023.
The Commissioner also said that Abia State government encouraged youths in the area to prioritized making career in security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Army and paramilitary jobs.
He noted that the recruitments into the Police Force and the Nigerian Defense Academy, NDA, were on going.
For his part, the Director General, Abia Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo, said government would soon embark on campaign against Street trading and awareness on waste management policies of the present administration.
Pastor Nwankwo emphasized that the government would be hard on traders who refused to leave the roads and enjoined the residents to be part of the new Abia agenda.
