JUBILATION AS EBONYI STATE GOVT PROVIDES FREE BUSES FOR STUDENTS & WORKERS

Ebonyi State Government has inaugurated for use three buses to convey students and civil servants in the state to and from their schools and offices.
Each of the buses is of 100 passenger capacity.
The buses are aimed at cushioning the effect of the petrol subsidy removal on the beneficiaries.
The three luxury buses, which started work at 7am on Monday were designated to workers within Abakaliki metropolis, CAS campus to other campuses of Ebonyi State University, and the Ikwo axis, comparising Alex Ekeueme Federal University Ndufu Alike-Ikwo and collage of Education Ikwo.
The Commissioner for Works and transport, Mr. Stanley Kelechi-Nbam, said the free transport was one of Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of needs aimed at reducing the economic challenges faced by citizens.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport, Chief Fredrick Nwogbaga, emphasized that measures had been put in place to ensure that the buses served the masses appropriately.
For his part, the Special Assistant to the Governor on students Affairs, Comrade Joshua Nwafor enjoined people to use the buses judiciously.
There was overwhelming joy among the first set of students who entered the bus.
The President, EBSU Student Union Government, Comrade Tobias Oshim, who spoke on behalf of the students, applauded the state government for the gesture.
Others, including civil servants, called for sustained people oriented programmmes by Governor Nwifuru and members of his cabinet.
