POLICE PARADE 19 CRIMINAL SUSPECTS IN IMO

Imo State Police Command has paraded 19 suspects for criminal offenses ranging from armed robbery, advanced free fraud, murder, kidnapping to cultism.
The Commands’ Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Henry Okoye, said the suspects were arrested at different points in the state while allegedly terrorizing the peace of residents.
Parading the suspects at the state command headquarters in Owerri, Mr. Okoye said that one of them, 23-year-old, Mr. Chukwuebuka Ogugu, was arrested for allegedly killing his friend, Mr. Ekwutosi Ogukwe from obolo Nzerem in Ehime Mbano, with his late father’s single barrel gun in preparation for hunting.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed that he killed his friend but stated that it was not intentional, that he was servicing his late father’s single-barrel gun when he accidentally discharged the gun with pellets hitting his said friend on his head and chest.
Also 72-year-old, Mr. Akalonu Donald, from Umuoba in Owerri North was paraded for repeatedly stabbing his relative, Mr. Achilike Akalonuto, to death over a little misunderstanding.
The PPRO further paraded an alleged notorious advanced free fraudster, Wisdom Mmaduka, who was said to had fraudulently obtained the sum of N1.4 million through ATM transfer from Miss Judith in the guise of marrying her.
Also, another notorious suspect, Nnamdi Anyigo, who was reportedly caught in possession of a stolen vehicle, admitted to terrorizing residents of the state capital with his gang leader, who is at large.
Some of the suspects, who spoke with Radio Nigeria, confessed to the crime.
Items said to have been recovered from them included 7 assault rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, 5 expanded ammunition, 2 big iron cutters and master keys.
The PPRO said the State Commission of police, Mr. Mohammed Barde, has reaffirmed the command’s unalloyed determination to ensure the safety of the people.
He urged those in possession of illicit firearms and ammunition to submit them to the nearest police station in the state or face the full wrath of the law when caught.
