GOV NWIFURU PLEDGES TO REVIEW STATE REVENUE LAW, COMPLETE INTERNATONAL TRADE CENTRE

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State says the sharing of N1.1 trillion FAAC Allocation to the three tiers of government for the month of September is a conviction that the removal of fuel subsidy is a step in the right direction.

He stated this during a Media Chat to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence celebration and 27th Anniversary of the creation of the state held at the old Government House Abakaliki.

Chief Nwifuru said though there had been reactions from Nigerians over economic hardship imposed by the removal, continuous payment of subsidy by the Federal Government would have made the country to go bankrupt.

He urged the people of the state to be patient with the government, noting that his administration would carry out a holistic review of the state revenue law with a view to removing some items targeted at impoverishing them.

The Governor added that the state government would complete the construction of magnificent International Trade Centre at Presco Junction Abakaliki abandoned by previous administrations and put it into good use.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor, said the Media Chat was in line with Governor Nwifuru’s Peoples Charter of Needs anchored on open governance and performance management.

Some Commissioners of strategic ministries took turn to render account of their stewardship since assumption of office.
