JUBILATION AS GOV OTTI REHABILITATES 2 HEALTH FACILITIES

Abia State Government says it will apply appropriate methodologies to combat threats of common deseases in all parts of the state.
Governor Alex Otti stated this at the reopening of the renovated and re-equipped Abia Specialist Hospital Aba road and the Amachara General Hospital Umuahia.
The projects include completion and re-equipping of the Eye centre, the General Out Patient Department, the Accident and Emergency Department of both Abia Specialist and Amachara general hospitals, expansion and reequipping of 2 Major theatres amongst others.
The Governor, who expressed regret that Amachara General Hospital which was inaugurated in 1932 was met in delapidated state, noted that the present administration had rehablitated the hospital to serve the medical needs of the people of the state and beyond.
According to Dr. Otti, the state government has entered into strategic partnership for the servicing and maintenance of the equipment to keep them functional, and gave an assurance that government hospitals would not be abandoned.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, who described the event as an epoch making one, thanked Governor Otti for his willingness to be used to salvage the situation.
The Health Commissioner stressed that Amachara General Hospital and Abia
Specialist and Diagnostic Centre were in terrible state, noting that the rehablitation of the two hospitals were promises made and fulfiled.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of the Health institutions, Dr. Francis Agu, commended the efforts of the Governor towards making the institutions a place to be proud of within a short stay in office.
He also thanked the Governor for the selection of a team of experts in revamping the hospitals.
