GOV OTTI SEALS OFF COLLASPED SHOPS, ORDERS INTEGRITY TEST

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has ordered the conduct of integrity test on buildings in Ekeoha Shopping Centre Aba to forestall collapse of shops in the market.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kazie Uko, said the directive from the Dr. Otti followed the recent collapse of block of shops in Ekeoha Shopping Centre Aba.

The statement explained that the Governor expressed dismay with a stretch of building housing about 15 shops inside the Market in Zone 13, which broke apart and caved in.

He then ordered the immediate evacuation and seal-off of the affected block of shops.

According to the statement, Governor Otti, who commiserated with traders whose shops were affected, described the tragic incident as unfortunate and avoidable and thanked God there was no loss of life.

The statement added that the Governor expressed more commitment of the present administration towards ensuring good governance in the state.
