GOV SOLUDO INAUGURATES THREE COMMITTEES
FOR 2023 CENSUS

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated the Security, Logistics and Publicity Committees for the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Inaugurating the State and Local Government Level Committees at Government House, Awka, Governor Soludo charged them to ensure adequate mobilization of the citizens to promote the success of the exercise.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, stressed that there was the need for wider sensitization of the citizens through appropriate channels of communication.

He urged the media, religious institutions and other stakeholders to dwell more on the exercise through awareness creation.

Governor Soludo noted that Security and Logistics were imperative to the success of the programme, explaining that security personnel must be adequately engaged at the grassroots.

In a Keynote Address, the Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State in the commission, Chief Chidi Ezeoke, said the census data generated would help government to properly deploy resources in national development.

Chief Ezeoke noted that the jobs of the committees were critical to ensure that the exercise was embraced by all segments of the society.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Paul Nwosu, charged the media to sensitize the citizens to the programme, which he described as a guide to national planning.

The Director, NPC in Anambra State, Dr. Joachim Ulasi, explained that the committees were strategic to the conduct of an acceptable census.

Speaking on behalf of the members of the committees, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Retired Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi, pledged that the members would help the Federal Government in realizing the goals of the census project.

Members of the committees were drawn from the media, the organised labour, security agencies, federal government agencies, NOA, NYCN, NANS, NCWS, religious and traditional institutions, CSOs, vigilante groups and transport unions.
