The Anambra State Government has awarded the construction of 6.5 kilometer Ozubulu-Ihembosi-Ukpor Road in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo while performing the ceremony at St Mathew’s Anglican Church Field, Ihembosi, said that he was touched by the suffering and havoc caused by flood on the people from the area, hence the commencement of the project.
Governor Soludo maintained that his administration had embarked on massive construction of roads in all the 21 local government areas of the state in a bid to make Anambra State liveable and prosperous.
Earlier in a remark, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr. Chimezie Obi, applauded the governor for fulfilling his campain promises, saying that the road, which had been in a state of disrepair and abandonment by successive governments, was now awarded.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoma, said the road from Ihembosi to Ozubulu was one of the strategic roads the governor showed interest when he took over the helms of affairs of the state.
The Works Commissioner noted that the road was designed to solve the incessant flooding even as he charged the community to monitor and own the project to ensure its delivery according to specifications.
Governor Soludo also inspected the revalidation of Ukpor-Umunoko-Nza-Ozubulu road, (Afor Ozubulu to Afor Ukpor).
