CBN/NOA SENSITIZE UMUAHIA RESIDENTS ON NEW NAIRA NOTES

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Abia State in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has staged a road walk on some major roads in Umuahia the Abia State capital to sensitize the residents of the area on the newly redesigned naira notes.
Speaking on the occasion, the State Director NOA Abia State, Dr. Ngozi Okechukwu, said that the programme was designed to educate the public on the newly redesigned naira notes of #1000, #500 and #200 as well as the need for Nigerians to accept it as legal tender for business transactions.
She noted that the Agency had mobilized its community mobilization officers in all the 17 local government areas of the state to help drive the message to the hinter lands.
The Branch Manager Central Bank of Nigeria Umuahia, Mr. Olaoba Ayotunde, pointed out that the newly redesigned naira notes have all the security features that made it a legal tender and urged the people to ensure that they deposit their old naira notes in banks before January 31, 2023, which is the deadline given by CBN for the acceptance of the old naira notes.
The newly redesigned naira notes were introduced into circulationon on November 23, 2022 by the Central Bank of Nigeria as legal tender for business transactions.
