ARMED FORCES & REMEMBERANCE DAY: GOV IKPEAZU PLEDGES TO PRIORITIZE SECURITY

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says his administration will continue to prioritize security in the state.

Governor Ikpeazu stated this in a message to the closing of the 2023 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day in Umuahia.

The Governor represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ude Okochukwu, called on Nigerians to show greater commitment to the unity of the country and the task of building a greater and better society.

He noted that Abia State Government would continue to assist the armed forces in their efforts and determination to sustain the prevailing peace and security in the state and the country.

Also, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Rose Urenta, aplauded the armed forces for their fight to end terriorism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities in the state and the country.

The Commander Nigeria Legion Abia State, Ambrose Nnabugwu, commended the same government for its support towards the welfare of the members of the Legion in the state.

Highlights of the occasion were the laying of wreaths at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cenotaph by the Governor’s representative, the representatives of the Speaker House of Assembly and the Commandant Nigerian Navy Owerrinta, alongside the Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohaofia, the state Chief Judge, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and the representatives of widows of both commissioned and non commissioned officers as well as the release of white Pigeons which signified peace for the country.
